“위례“는 지형지세를 의미하는 동시에 경계, 울타리의 뜻을 가진 단어이다. 서울위례솔초의 주변환경은 아파트단지와 넓은 도로 체계 등 신도시의 특성이 뚜렷한 지역이다. 신도시의 수직선과 평범함에서 자라는 아이들은 ‘사선과 곡선’을 경험할 일상이 없으며, ‘지형’ 을 온전히 바라볼 일이 없다. 또한, 서울위례솔초의 건축물 자체도 여러 개의 네모박스 형태로 구성되어 있다. 따라서, 이번에 EUS+가 계획한 학교 내의 세군데 휴게공간은 사선과 곡선을 이용한 자연스러운 언덕을 담으면서 학생들에게 새로운 경험을 하게 하고자 한다.

The surrounding environment of Seoul Wiryesol Elementary School is an area with distinct characteristics of a new city, such as apartment complexes and wide road systems. Children who grow up in the vertical lines and mediocrity of a new city do not have a daily life to experience ‘slanted lines and curves’ and do not have a chance to look at the ‘topography' fully. In addition, the Seoul Wiryesol Elementary School building has several square boxes. Therefore, the three rest areas within the school planned by EUS+ this time contain natural hills using slanted lines and curves, and they want to provide new experiences to students.

3층의 라운지는 3,4학년의 실내휴게공간이다. 아트리움에서 들어오는 자연광과 함께, 저학년의 주도적인 놀이와 휴식을 바탕으로 교류와 배움, 성장이 일어나는 장소이다. 또한, 휴식시간 외에도 수업시간 중 다양한 수업 방식에 활용이 가능한 공간이며, 방과 후 및 동아리 활동도 촉진시킬 수 있도록 고려해 설계하였다. 중심에 위례솔 초등학교의 상징인 ㅇㄹㅅ 중에 ㅇ을 모티브로 한 큰 ‘그릇’을 입체적으로 구성하여 학생들의 소통 구심점을 형성했다. 공간의 네 방향으로 각각 캐주얼한 빈백과 긴 테이블과 바닥놀이를 구성하였고, 교실과 맞닿는 벽에는 책과 보드게임 등을 위한 책장 및 아늑한 ㅇㄹㅅ 포켓 공간을 계획하였다. 보드게임과 소통, 모임을 위한 테이블을 배치하였으며, 천정에는 같은 원형 구조물로 공간감을 더하면서 4층 휴게공간과 연관성을 부여하였다.

The lounge on the third floor is an indoor rest area for third and fourth graders. With natural light coming in from the atrium, it is a place where communication, learning, and growth take place based on the younger grades’ leading play and rest. In addition to break time, it is a space that can be used for various teaching methods during class hours, and it was designed to promote after-school and club activities. In the center, a large ‘bowl’ with the motif of the letter ㅇ in the ㅇㄹㅅ, the symbol of Wiryeseol Elementary School, was constructed in three dimensions to form a communication center for students. Casual bean bags, long tables, and floor play were planned in each of the four directions of the space, and a bookshelf for books and board games and a cozy ㅇㄹㅅ pocket space was designed on the wall facing the classroom. Tables for board games, communication, and gatherings were placed, and the same circular structure on the ceiling added a sense of space while giving a connection to the fourth-floor rest area.

복도의 실내 벤치의 형태는 위례솔 마크 ㅇㄹㅅ 의 ‘ㄹ’을 모티브로 하였으며, 다른 층과 같은 장소에서 반복과 적용이 가능한 유형으로 계획하였다.

The shape of the indoor bench in the hallway was inspired by the letter ‘ㄹ’ in the ㅇㄹ ㅅ mark and was planned as a type that can be repeated and applied in the same place on other floors.

4층의 연료전지실 앞 휴게공간은 도서관에서 가장 먼 영역이며, 체육관을 내려다 볼 수 있어, 시각적인 연계가 가능하다.  고학년 학생들의 자율적 휴식과 독서를 통해 다른 차원의 배움을 익힐 수 있는 장소로 공간의 개념을 설정하였다. 위례솔 마크 ㅇㄹㅅ 의 ㅅ을 모티브로 한 구조물을 계획해 공간의 중심점을 형성하였다.

The break area in front of the fuel cell room on the 4th floor is the furthest area from the library and overlooks the gym, allowing for visual connection. The concept of the space was set as a place where upper-year students can learn on a different level through autonomous rest and reading. A structure based on the ㅅ of the Wiryesol mark ㅇㄹㅅ was planned to form the center point of the space.
